CNC Elm Bowl

CNC Elm Sailors Bowl. Inspired by plates and bowls from ships that were often square to stop them from rolling off shelves when at sea. This plate is made from solid oak and is 1ft (30cm) square. It was used by sailors to eat their food from and is probably the origin of the expression ‘three square meals a day.’

Oak Finger-Grip Chopping Board

The oak base is from a third year model and now exists as a chopping board. I had no ideas how I wanted to add a handle or grip and decided it could be part of my finger strengthening routine for climbing. Having traced my hand I drilled 7mm wide dips for four fingers and a thumb.

the model shows the courtyard cobbled in end grain scraps from the makers using the site.
